• "As a long standing tanner, and now sunbed owner I think there are definite benefits to 'being brown'. Tanning done responsibly has to be better for you than going outside and burning yourself red, or to such an extent it is painful to sit, stand, and obvious lobster impressions are paraded round like a badge of honour, complete with the white bra-strap and pant marks- don't get this sunbedding! It has now been said, because we are covering up- [SPF Sunscreen] lotions and clothing - children and adults are now found to be suffering from low levels of vitamin D - again, sensible tanning/sun exposure, indoors or out can alleviate this problem so simply. Tanning, for me, and many of my friends, has a psychological effect - you feel good, your skin looks better and a tan hides many of those nasty imperfections. So, in my opinion, there are obvious benefits to tanning - as with everything there are risks, but if you are aware and careful, then ultimately the feel-good factor will win over." • "I think sunbed tanning is great. I know there are a lot of people who believe they are bad for you and can cause risks, which yes, if you over use them, but if you are tanning sensibly and do your research first, they are fantastic. The good thing about them is, you can tan any time day or night, in the comfort of your own home (if you are lucky enough to have one at home), you can tan on rainy days or cloudy days, the choice is yours. I prefer sunbed tanning to sun tanning because you have the choice, and the funny thing is, you tend to feel worse once you've sun tanned, you get burnt, if you fall asleep you won't get woken by a timer, then you have the risk of peeling after all that hard work of lying in the sun... the list goes on."
